Firefighting teams were dispatched to a vegetation fire at the Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve late Monday afternoon.
The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District reported that the call came in at approximately 5:06 p.m., with crews arriving on the scene shortly thereafter.
Onlookers from the parking lot at the intersection of Carpinteria Avenue and Bailard Avenue first noticed the smoke rising from the nature preserve, a location known for its scenic beauty and ecological significance.
Firefighters worked to contain and clear the fire for approximately 90 minutes before all units were cleared from the scene. The cause is under investigation.

Plenty of spots away from prying eyes to do all sorts of nefarious things out there. Local law enforcement would have to actually get out of their cars to investigate which is not going to happen.
