A rapid response from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBCFD) and the Los Padres National Forest firefighters contained a small vegetation fire off Highway 166 on Monday afternoon.
The fire ignited at approximately 3:07 p.m. in the 9100 block of Highway 166, near Cuyama. Upon arrival, emergency crews were met with the blaze which had spread to an estimated area of three acres.
Efforts from both agencies effectively halted the fire’s forward progress by 3:42 p.m. Following the containment, fire personnel focused on mopping up the area to prevent any possible resurgence of the fire. By 5:30 p.m., the scene was cleared.
There were no injuries reported or structural damage.
