Fire Weather Watch

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Sunday evening through late Sunday night for the Santa Barbara County South Coast and mountain areas. (Zones CAZ239 & CAZ252).

  • Winds…North to northeast 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
  • Relative Humidity…Overnight minimums of 12 to 20 percent.
  • Impacts…If fire ignition occurs, extreme fire behavior is possible which would threaten life and property. Use extreme caution with potential ignition sources.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings. Stay alert and encourage family members, friends and neighbors to register for notifications and alerts at Aware and Prepare.org.
