Santa Barbara County Firefighters responded to an outdoor shed fire near the Goleta Cemetary off Hollister Ave on Friday afternoon.

Around noon, a fire engine driving along Hollister Ave noticed smoke in a nearby neighborhood. They responded on their own and found a manmade shed fully involved in fire in the backyard of a home, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

The owners were inside the home at the time and did not know a fire was burning in their backyard.

The engine company on scene called for a structure response that brought in three total engine companies and one truck company to the scene.

Crews contained the fire to the shed and prevented it from spreading to the home or neighboring properties. The shed, mostly used for storing tools and other items, sustained extensive damage to the structure and its contents.

An investigator is on the scene to determine the cause.
