The co-founder of the popular Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company, James “Jim” Dietenhofer, has died at age 72.

Son and fellow co-founder of the Buellton-based brewery, Jaime Dietenhofer made the announcement stating his father passed peacefully on Saturday at his home surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

“[He] was an amazing father, husband, grandfather, friend, coach, business partner, cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, fellow soldier and much much more… We were all beyond lucky to have had him in our lives and we will never fill the void left by such a great human being,” wrote Jaime.

Jim was a Vietnam veteran and a successful local business owner. He opened Figueroa Mountain Brewery with Jaime in 2010 at their initial Buellton location which quickly grew to six locations on the Central Coast.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marks in the Valley Episcopal Church in Los Olivos. A reception will follow at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company’s Buellton headquarters at 4:30 p.m. (45 Industrial Way, Buellton, CA).

The family asks to make a donation in Jim’s name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in lieu of flowers.
