There are a few desserts at Santa Barbara area restaurants that are especially good. What is one of your favorites and why?

At Harry's Plaza Cafe - ask for the cookie monster. It's huge - 2-4 people can share it. Great for celebrations. Two warm large cookies made into an ice cream sandwhich doused with warm fudge sauce and whip cream.

Hands-down, without any other place within 50 miles that comes even close, anything and everything on the dessert menu at the Stone House. We go there for a treat at least once a month, and in "birthday" months we go twice (in on rare occasion several years ago, we went a wonderful THREEEEEE times!). In no particular order, here are our favorites:
- Baked Alaska
- Bananas Foster
- Crêpes Suzette
- Valrhona Manjari chocolate soufflé
- Grand Marnier soufflé (honorable mention)

Why: Because it's there, and THERE is where you are going to find it.

The tiramisu at Trattoria Vittoria - it’s hard to believe how delicious and light in weight it is. For special occasions I provide the plate and they make it to go very nicely. There’s enough for several people. It’s the best I’ve tasted in town and am interested in other places with it.

It has been years since I’ve had a chocolate soufflé at the palace Grill. Very few places do it and it’s excellent at the Palace.

Chocolate soufflé at the Palace Grill one of my favorites, too. I wish they would open again for lunch.

Not a dessert at a restaurant, but if you're out for an "exotic" sweet treat, Lokum is the place to go! Turkish delight of all sorts and baklavas as well!

Lokum is legit! We end many a state street walk there! Cream Beignets at Brioche are also pretty amazing...

Bristol Farms Cookie indeed is a winner! We discovered this in a surprising way. My wife found a credit card in a local parking lot. When she returned it to the owner, the owner rewarded us with Bristol Farms Cookies and other treats!

Not sure how you get anything at Nothing Bundt Cakes. They only sell in large quantities.

Tondi Gelato is our go-to place now for dessert. Each flavor is lovingly created on site from fresh ingredients.

The dark chocolate pecan tart at Opal is another favorite. Wish they were open during the day and not just for dinner.

Having lived in Denmark as a child, I love the marzipan confections at Andersen's. Very authentic and delicious!

Little Things on the Mesa - the Sarah Bernhardt especially, but everything is great!

Everything Anna'a Bakery uses good ingredients, so everything tastes good. It's not a fancy place, but a great place to pick up a sweet snack to eat on the go or a scrumptious special occasion cake.

mud pie mojo at Cold Stone. Key Lime pie with bourbon creme sauce at the Palace. A simple rootbear float at Harrys (it's the best you'll ever have...promise!), a pint of Ben and Jerry's Tonight Dough, or some pastries from Metropolous cafe in the funk zone. Their cookies, cakes, and deserts are VERY good.
