Emergency personnel are on the scene of a fatal traffic collision that took place on Highway 101 northbound, just north of the Castillo Street onramp in Santa Barbara on Saturday morning.
Highway 101 northbound was closed for a period of time until around 9:15 a.m. when one lane of northbound traffic was reopened.
At 6:41 a.m., California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a report of a vehicle collision involving a white van and a gray sedan.
The gray sedan crashed off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Reporting parties stated multiple vehicles were exiting and driving northbound on Castillo Street, which is a one-way street.
CHP arrived and was able to divert traffic at Bath Street while shutting down northbound lanes of the highway.
CHP confirmed this incident is a fatal collision. No further details have been released at this time.
