Highway 101 southbound near Fairview Avenue was closed earlier today, February 16, due to a large eucalyptus tree that had fallen across the highway blocking all southbound lanes and the fast lane northbound.
According to County Fire, all northbound lanes are now open and one southbound lane has been opened. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area.

Thank you very much for posting this article and providing photos of the fallen tree. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly road conditions can change. It appears that all SB lanes are open now, so thank goodness for that. Same goes for the tree that fell onto Cathedral Oaks near Kellogg. Unfortunately, there was a fatality on Hwy 126 just east of Santa Paula, but traffic is moving through that area now without delays. Be wise and stay safe!
