EōS Fitness has expanded its presence in the Southern California market by acquiring 23 gym locations, including one in Santa Barbara.
The acquisition includes locations that were part of a long-running Southern California franchise built by Angel and Willy Banos. Southern California is now EōS Fitness’s largest market in the U.S., with 46 total locations.
The company plans to expand to 50 Southern California gyms by the end of 2025, focusing on providing accessible, high-quality fitness experiences throughout the state.
On the South Coast, EōS Gym has taken over the former Gold’s Gym facilities at 21 W. Carrillo Street in downtown Santa Barbara, 3908 State Street, and 6144 Calle Real in Goleta.
EōS’ Expansion in Southern California
EōS Fitness first entered the Southern California market in 2015 with five locations. With this new acquisition, the company adds gyms in several key areas, including Beverly Center, Hollywood, Long Beach, and Santa Barbara. This brings its total to more than 200 open or planned gyms nationwide.
“This acquisition accelerates our expansion in a highly competitive real estate market,” said EōS Fitness CEO Rich Drengberg.
Drengberg said that the company is very grateful to Angel and Willy Banos for their hard work and vision over these years. The Banos brothers have helped in building these gyms and maintaining the standards over the last three decades.
“It’s this foundation that allows us to extend the premium fitness experience EōS is known for to a broader audience while enhancing access for existing members.”
EōS to Retain Franchise’s Gym-Level Teams
Before becoming the CEO, Drengberg had been the vice president of marketing and sales for the Banos brothers for 15 years.
As part of the acquisition, EōS Fitness will retain all of the franchise’s gym-level teams and add more than 1,000 employees to its workforce.
Headquartered in Dallas, EōS Fitness operates under its “High Value. Low Price.” (HVLP) model, designed to make fitness accessible for everyone. Most EōS Fitness gyms span about 40,000 square feet and include extensive equipment, group fitness classes, and personal training options.
The company plans to open a total of 250 gyms across the U.S. by 2030.
