Emergency Speaker Test at UC Santa Barbara

Source: UCSB

Today, Monday, December 23, UC Santa Barbara is conducting a test of the Emergency Communication & Notification Outdoor Speaker system. Testing begins at 6:00am and concludes at 6:00pm. The Notification System is responsible for broadcasting live, up-to-the minute information to campus via a series of outdoor speakers in the event of an emergency.

The campus community and the general public near campus should expect to hear short bursts of sound and testing announcements throughout the day. The announcements will be test statements and sounds. For example, “This is a quarterly test message of the UCSB Alerts emergency communication system. No action is required; please do not respond” will be repeated multiple times to ensure clarity and proper volume levels from multiple locations around campus.

When: Monday, December 23, 2019, 6 a.m. — 6 p.m.

Where: UCSB Campus
