Elevated Dreams Aerials at First Thursday at SBCAST

By Robert Bernstein

Elevated Dreams Aerial performance group was new to me. First Thursday in August was buried in all of the Fiesta activity. Yet Elevated Dreams managed to shine through all that buzz and confusion with a performance at SBCAST (Santa Barbara Center for Art, Science and Technology).

Here are my photos and videos of these beautiful and skillful performances!

As the crowd gathered for the performance, videographer Justin Gunn (R) and his friend showed up on their art bikes that were created for Burning Man:

Youth aerialists Marina Ficker, Sarah Conviser, and Abby Pfarr were a highlight of the performance set:

But every performance was uniquely worth experiencing. Here are more of my videos:

The crowd watched with complete fascinated attention the entire time:

SBCAST is a bit out of the way from the rest of the First Thursday venues. But definitely worth a visit!

And this poster showed how you can get involved with Elevated Dreams!

  1. Dusty Williams is the artist who created the Dragon art bicycles. Justin Gunn collaborated with him on the project. Dusty could not be at this event so David DiSandro filled in as the other Dragon bike rider. You may recognize other Dusty Williams art bikes that look like graceful dragonflies and other winged creatures.
