Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to an above ground electrical vault fire in the Turnpike Shopping Center on Monday morning.

At 10:44 a.m. fire crews were on scene at 163 S. Turnpike Road towards the back of the Vons Grocery Store parking lot. They discovered smoke coming out of the electrical vault and cordoned off the area to prevent anyone from getting closer, said Fire Captain Dave Zaniboni.

Southern California Edison was on scene to assess the damage and shut down electricity to the vault.

There were no injuries reported and no reports of power outages in the area.

Captain Zaniboni said the vault controlled the exterior lights of the shopping center, and businesses interior lights were unaffected.
