A pickup truck was discovered approximately 100 feet over the side of the roadway in the 3200 block of Avenida Caballo Road in the Santa Ynez Valley.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the call at 3:24 p.m. Saturday, finding the solo occupant, an elderly female driver, was severely injured.
Firefighter paramedics worked to stabilize the patient before she was airlifted via Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit (SBC ASU) Copter 3 to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for emergency treatment.
The extent of her injuries and her current condition have not been disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
