Elderly Woman Dies on Casino Shuttle Bus

Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to medical emergency call off Highway 154 on Sunday morning.

Captain Scott Safechuck reported an 82-year-old female suffered cardiac arrest on a transportation bus to the Chumash casino. 

Prior to firefighter arrival, the woman was extricated from the bus bathroom by the Santa Barbara County Parks Department.

At 10:10 a.m., crews arrived on the highway near the Lake Cachuma entrance. 

“Despite roadside resuscitation efforts, patient pronounced decease at the scene,” wrote Captain Safechuck.

The woman’s identity and official cause of death have yet to be released.
