In a mid-afternoon accident on Tuesday, an elderly driver mistakenly drove over a curb and into the side of a building located at 3970 La Colina Road, home to the California Child Care Coordinators Association.
Santa Barbara Police received the call at 2:17 p.m., and officers quickly responded to the scene. According to police, the elderly female driver accidentally pressed the gas pedal, causing her vehicle to jump a parking curb and collide with the side of the building.
Fortunately, the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no one else inside the building was injured.
The driver reported minor pain and was transported to Cottage Hospital as a precaution.
The Santa Barbara Fire Department examined the structure following the collision. After assessing the damage and removing the vehicle, the building was deemed structurally safe for re-entry.

Relicensing for drivers over a certain age should happen at 3 year intervals, after an accident and after every hospitalization of over 3 days. I’m a senior and have had “experiences” with my friends, so I know of what I speak.
Boy, I think that’ll go over around here like a lead balloon. Similar to repealing Prop. 13. I don’t disagree with you, but it’ll be a tough sell.
