Hello edhat readers and supporters,
Thank you all for the ongoing support and kind words since we've relaunched our new website. As we mentioned in our last announcement, the website is still a work in progress so here are some updates and answers to a few frequently answered questions!
1. Edhat Account Login
All edhat accounts have been transferred over to the new website. If you haven't reset your password yet, you will need to do so to activate your account. Click here to reset your password. Email us at ed@edhat.com with any issues. If your previously paid edhat account subscription has not transferred to your new account, please contact us as well.
2. Daily Edhat Newsletter
It's almost ready! We've been working to get this ready as soon as possible and hope to have it completed in the next few days. All edhat readers will receive a notice when it's complete. The newsletter is free for everyone. The only thing you'll need is to sign up for an edhat account, click here if you don't have one yet.
3. Navigating the new Homepage
Our new edhat homepage is meant to highlight the top stories and events happening throughout town. For those who miss the old "list-view" news version of edhat, simply click on the news or local news tab in the menu bar to see all our stories lined up in order of most recently posted. Or you can click here
4. Email us with Feedback
Since this relaunch took us a bit by surprise, we're continuing to develop various features as we go. We really appreciate everyone's feedback, especially if you come across error messages or links that aren't working. Also, we want to hear your thoughts on the new layout - we know it's a little different and that's okay with us, but we want it to be comfortable for you too.  We can't incorporate everyone's suggestions, so please don't be offended, but we will definitely read them all and take them into consideration. Please email us at ed@edhat.com or send a note through our Contact Us Form with any suggestions or comments.
Thanks again to everyone for supporting edhat, Santa Barbara's best local website!

Edhat Updates: Daily Newsletter, Accounts, and more!

Any changes in life can be hard to adjust to. We were so used to the "old" way it's a little hard to get into the groove here but I'm sure it will come with use. Just super glad you weren't blackmailed into buying the SCAM, paying for your own site and only maybe getting back what you paid for. As you say, this is a work in progress, patience required on our part. Thanks for all your work, it can't be easy.

Middle Ground - Select the "News" tab at the top of the page. Voila! All of the news stories are listed here. The front page shows newer stories. Comment order: It's a time glitch that will soon be fixed. Pic of the Day: Heck Yeah! It's one of our favorite things too - it's coming! CSAUTOT - We are in the process of migrating all of the old data.

I agree that I'd like to see the comments come in the order received. It makes it tough to follow coversations if you're trying to read from the bottom up. I'd also like to see smaller icon for the article so that more articles are shown on a page. The icon isn't value added.

It would be nice if the comments could be listed in the order in which they were received, instead of the most recent ones first. Also, for the first few days we could edit our postings, but that feature seems to have disappeared.

I'm not a fan of the new site. I loved being able to see 20-30 stories at a time and choose which to read. Now it's scroll baby scroll. I used to check edhat everyday. After the whole debacle I don't see it filling the purpose it once did. I highly recommend getting a new theme that is like the old site. Comments section used to be the best thing, now it's boring. I'm actually pretty sad about the changes. You've got a lot of positive comments here but I just don't believe they are genuine.

Thanks for your feedback. As we stated, the website is still a work in progress, but an upgrade was necessary for edhat to continue. We'll continue developing the website as we go, but feel free to email us with more feedback to ed@edhat.com

Are you going to allow comments by non-paying members? My favorite part of edhat was always the clever, snarky comments (but not the mean or dull ones. Discriminating taste...)

Also, I would suggest putting in place 301 redirects to the new URLs if old content is brought back so that you can hopefully maintain your search engine rankings on old content.
