An early morning fire on Sunday has temporarily closed the doors of Chase Restaurant, a popular dining spot located on State Street in downtown Santa Barbara.
The blaze was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, prompting a rapid response from the Santa Barbara City Fire Department. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire in approximately 20 minutes, showcasing a swift and effective response to the emergency.

Originating in a storage room at the rear of the 1012 State Street building, the fire caused damage to a wall and affected the second story of the establishment. Despite the potentially devastating circumstances, the fire department’s efforts limited the damage.
The restaurant confirmed the extent of the damage means closing Chase Restaurant for a period of time. The closure will allow for necessary repairs and safety checks to ensure the well-being of future patrons.
Responding to the incident were five engine companies, a ladder truck, and a battalion chief, illustrating the significant resources deployed to combat the fire. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in connection with the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the specifics of how the blaze began.
