On 10/15/25, at about 2:19 pm, the Ventura Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding an injury traffic collision between a motor vehicle and an electric bicycle in the 1300 block of Callens Road in Ventura.
Patrol officers responded to the collision and found the cyclist unconscious with severe injuries. The cyclist was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition as of the time of this release.
The driver of the motor vehicle stopped, rendered aid to the cyclist, and remained on scene until officers arrived. The driver was not injured in the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the cyclist was traveling northbound on Callens Road, while the motorist was traveling southbound on Callens Road. It appears the motorist turned in front of the cyclist, violating the cyclists right of way.
The investigation is still ongoing and anyone who has information related to this incident can contact Officer Alex Garcia with the Ventura Police Traffic Division at (805) 339-4326.

Reminds me of the old saying: “You might be right (as in right of way” – but you might be dead right.
Or wonder if the bike rider had a blinking day bright light and wore bright color clothes.
Or a day glow shirt and helmet with a blinking light!
Or bikers must assume they not seen. And must be careful when car approaches.
Hope the driver of car had left turn blinker on.
And hope the biker revovers.

PS … maybe with new tech, bikers can send out warning signals that car drivers hear,
PPS, Are e-bikers licenced? And take a test? Or get training? ie DMV since e-bikes have motors.
More staccato word salad.
