At the intersection of Pedregosa and State streets around 5:00 pm Thursday, yet another e-bike vs car collision.
Looked to be minor injuries but the bicyclist was down without moving for several minutes. No helmet, driver was heard saying, “I didn’t see you” after making a left turn from State to East Pedregosa and striking the e-biker.
A nurse in the blue shirt was on scene prior to AMR arriving.
Be careful, the speed of e-bikes can be deceiving.

“No helmet, driver was heard saying, “I didn’t see you” after making a left turn from State to East Pedregosa and striking the e-biker.” This doesn’t make sense.
I thought SBPD was going to enforce bicycles who routinely fail to obey traffic control devices. I recently saw a man with two children in his bike trailer ride right through a stop sign I was stopped at as Roosevelt School ended. Hopefully the beautiful Dino wasn’t damaged.
People with heads larger than a pin can figure out that “No helmet” is something the article states but is not something the driver said.
Yet “No helmet, driver was heard saying…” is precisely what the article is stating, hence my comment. Turns out your head might be a little too big.
driver was heard saying, “I didn’t see you”
See, the quote marks matter to people who aren’t illiterate.
ZIPs – the article was not edited. If it was, it would say “edited” like Ed always does when an article is changed in any way.
“No helmet, driver was heard saying, ‘I didn’t see you’ after making a left turn from State to East Pedregosa and striking the e-biker. ” – that is the sentence. While poorly written, it does not say that the driver said “no helmet,” only that the driver said “I didn’t see you.”
I think you should just own your mistake. Lying about it is worse.
The article WAS edited. It initally was: “No helmet, driver was heard saying, “I didn’t see you” after making a left turn from State to East Pedregosa and striking the e-biker.” which clearly doesn’t read well. Did you think I made that up? I’m lying? Why would I possibly lie about such a thing. The article was edited and hopefully Ed acknowledges that since now thanks to your accusations it’s become a matter of honor.
There have been no edits made to this article.

With all due respect, that simply is not true. My initial comment “No helmet, driver was heard saying, “I didn’t see you” after making a left turn from State to East Pedregosa and striking the e-biker.” was copied directly from the initial post. Perhaps ‘Blazer’ posted something that was then edited by your staff, but the article was edited.
It wasn’t edited. You can email us at info@edhat.com to discuss it further.
ZIPS – I don’t think you understand what is happening here. No one said it didn’t say that. Marcel only said that the only thing (BECAUSE OF THE QUOTATION MARKS) the driver said, according to the article, is “I didn’t see you.”
You’re right, it is poorly written and confusing, but it was NOT edited and it does NOT (nor did it ever) say the driver made the statement, “No helmet.”
It’s simple grammar. While the sentence itself is terrible, it does not say the driver said, “No helmet.”
Time to move on, Zips.
ZIPS – it STILL says that. It ALWAYS has. The way it is written, the only thing the driver “says” is “I didn’t see you.” There are no quotation marks around “no helmet.”
Not sure why you are fighting this so hard when it’s so clearly not true. A matter of honor? LOL….
Dude, you support the defense and protection of child rapists. You, sir/madam, have NO HONOR.
Also, looks like Ed just confirmed you’re lying. “A matter of honor” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not sure about a traffic light at this location but sounds more like a “failure to yield” violation whether or not there is a traffic light.
It’s not clear that the E-biker was at fault. If he had the right of way, the car may have just turned left into him. I agree with the article that bike speeds can be deceiving. I knew a guy who cycled a lot on a regular bike, but got hit a lot. He biked fast. Cars misjudged.

Common sense and following the rules of the road works. If not for you, then you’re on your own.
Hey, you scratched up my Ferrari!
No one seems concerned besides the biker.
Doesn’t this happen everyday in town?
If the F 308 is for sale, let me know
Alex, I didn’t know you hate art.
Italian art is historic.
Said everyone everywhere.
OOPS ,that is a Dino.
Never mind i cant afford it.
You can’t even pay attention.
Bicyclist was warming up with an E-bike before going into a full blown exercise regimen with a regular pedal bicycle.
I just want to know whose Marlboro Lights/Marlboro Gold was just left sitting there?

Fun fact, i ride both an E Bike (same pictured) and a human powered mountain bike. I can peddle a sustained speed on my mountain bike at 22 mph. Ebikes for the most part, including the one pictured and the same one most kids use is a cargo bike by Rad Powered BIkes. they have a top speed, full throttle of 19.5 mph. Facts. All bikes speed is deceiving. That statement doesn’t alleviate the focal point that if you’re in a car, you have a lot of hazzards to be aware of. Bikes, skateboarders, joggers, loose dogs, loose kids, pedestrians glued to their phones. As a driver we have to be aware of ALL of these things in our narrow tiny weird one way roads downtown. This is a reason that I have not and will not drive around town.
Bike riders should be mandated to wear a bright colored vest. They cost under $10.00. Any person on a bike who does not wear a helmet is a moron!
KID – It was the middle of the day. Would a vest really help? If the driver “didn’t see” the cyclist, that’s on the driver.
Kid is speaking for the geriatric population that shouldn’t be driving at all.
Even a neon burn-your-eyeballs vest is no guarantee that drivers will see you, or avoid hitting you, although it certainly can’t hurt.
A helmet, though, is a no-brainer if you want to stay alive and well.
