UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Driver’s License/DUI Checkpoint scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, has been canceled.


Buellton CHP to Conduct Sobriety/Driver License Checkpoint

The Buellton Area of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will conduct a sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, August 24, 2024, within an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County in the Buellton CHP jurisdictional area.

“All too often, community members are senselessly injured or killed on local roadways by intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. The goal of the CHP is to ensure the safe passage of every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. A sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint is a proven, effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations.

By publicizing our efforts, we believe that we can deter motorists from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and/or unlicensed. Our objective is to send a clear message to those individuals considering driving while unlicensed or impaired,” said Lieutenant Jason Bronson, the Commander of the Buellton Area. NOTE: The sobriety/driver license checkpoint will be operated from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. drugs or driving while unlicensed.
