Dry Start
(Scroll through the above photos)
By John Wiley
Flying our dry hills we got some views before a hopefully gentle and prolonged rainy season. Knapps Castle edges toward a stonework masterpiece befitting an exceptional though fire-prone setting.
Gibraltar Reservoir looks great for only 57% capacity. Down in town the SB High stadium construction is making concrete progress.

Nov 24, 2018 11:44 AMIt will be interesting to see what the new owner does to Knapp's Castle. It appears that an "infinity" pool is going in.....what an incredible view that will make. Does anyone know if the owner plans to rent out rooms (like an Airbnb type place)? Would LOVE to stay there!

Nov 23, 2018 05:36 PMSo a plane flies over? Not rude at all, John, if in fact it was even you. Keep up your good reporting. Thanks for sharing the photos

Nov 24, 2018 11:36 AMThe Grand Canyon has a special flight rules area where flight below 14K' is generally prohibited. For special places like that, I appreciate the rule. When you're hiking down there, you can hear a bug fart it is soooo quiet and majestic. But for our urban and urban interface areas, it hasn't been a problem for me. And I've spent a lot of time on that ridge above the Ruins. Perhaps PC residents may think otherwise?

Nov 24, 2018 10:08 AMPilots have some duty to fly offshore or high enough that their plane noise does not impact on the people trying to enjoy their outdoor space. The pilot can easily head to the ocean or over the unoccupied mountain areas once leaving SB airport. So, yes, it is rude to ignore this for minor reasons such as a hobby or personal egotism.

Nov 22, 2018 10:04 PMTangerine Falls. Flew again today (Thursday) and delighted at the sight of water in the devastated falls. Will the orange color begin to return? Also got a few pix of other interesting spots around town. Shall I send them to Ed for possible publication tomorrow?

Nov 22, 2018 07:24 PMOh, WHAT have they done to Knapp's Castle? I thought the owner was told to cease 'remodeling' the ruins. Looks like he's trying to turn it into a paid attraction. The haunted feeling the ruins had has been destroyed, Sad.
