Driver Impaled During Traffic Collision

A driver was impaled in the forehead by a metal rod while driving in Santa Maria Friday evening.

At 5:00 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters reported to a vehicle accident on E. Betteravia and Telephone Road. Upon arrival crews discovered a vehicle with two occupants. The passenger was unharmed while the 49-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries. 

A metal pole or pipe that was either kicked up from the roadway or another vehicle, crashed into the vehicle and impaled the driver in the forehead region. Firefighters extricated the driver who was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via CalStar helicopter.

The incident is under investigation.

  1. 09:19 on the shows like 911 those are mostly reenactment of actual cases and incidents . Ironically due to our laws such as HIPPA most of the incidents in 911 like the rebar through the head actually happened in China.
