Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a double-fatal vehicle collision in Santa Maria on Friday night.

The collision took place around 6:05 the intersection of W. Main Street and Black Road.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision and there were a total of five patients. Two people died, one was airlifted to Cottage Hospital with serious injuries, and two people sustained minor injuries. 

Extrication was required to retrieve the patients from the vehicles. 

The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office released the identity of the decedents from the collision. They are Oscar Campos, 30, and Miguel Preciado Nava, 20, both from Santa Maria. The remainder of the investigation will be handled by the California Highway Patrol.

Late Friday, the CHP identified the 350Z driver as 20-year-old Miguel Preciadonava, the car’s only occupant, and the Altima driver as 30-year-old Oscar Campos. Both men were from Santa Maria.
Santa Barbara County fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said extensive extrication was required to free victims from the two mangled vehicles.

Smith said two of Campos’ passengers — a 6-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy — suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by a Calstar medical helicopter.

A third passenger, 28-year-old Beatriz Estrada of Santa Maria, suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, he added.
The CHP said the driver of the Cobalt, 28-year-old Nabor Ortizlopez of Santa Maria, sustained minor injuries.
