Dos Pueblos High School was placed on a brief “Secure” status Friday morning, May 8, after what the principal described as an issue involving a dysregulated student.
The precaution began at 9:48 a.m. and lasted about 25 minutes before the campus returned to normal operations, according to a message sent to families.
Edhat readers first reported a type of lockdown at the Goleta campus. In an update to parents, Principal Bill Woodard wrote:
“Greetings Charger Families,
Today, due to an issue with a dysregulated student, out of an abundance of caution, we placed the school on Secure as a precaution at 9:48 am. The Secure status lasted approximately 25 minutes while we worked to address the issues with this student. All school operations have now returned to normal. What is the Secure Action? The Secure Action is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Secure uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection. During Secure, all students and staff are brought into the secure building and all exterior doors are locked. Classes are able to continue uninterrupted inside the building.
Sincerely, Bill Woodard”
