Domestic Violence Suspect Arrested After Standoff

On 2/22/18 at 2059 hours, officers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident in the city of Santa Maria. The suspect, 33-year-old Greg Koenen, refused to exit the residence despite repeated demands by officers.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers forced entry into the residence and located the suspect with the help of a K9 unit. The suspect was taken into custody without the need for physical force by the K9 or officers.

Koenen became physically combative after his arrest while being medically cleared for booking at Marian Hospital. Koenen was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail for felony domestic battery and resisting arrest.
