Flying our coast we saw this very unusual dolphin fest. They were swimming really fast and making hairpin turns, apparently dining on fish that don't show in the pix and the vid I've sent Ed. Some would swim upside down, presumably watching the fish. Others would swim right side up, possibly watching the diving pelicans. The instant the pelicans hit the water the dolphins would turn on a dime and race toward them, probably catching distracted fish. It was fascinating to watch. We also saw this hint of moss returning to Tangerine Falls that was devastated by the fire and debris flow, and now looks very different.

Is the Tangerine trail open? It looks so badly damaged maybe the trail hasn't been repaired yet?

Cold Spring Canyon trails (east and west forks) and trailhead are still closed, per SB City and County.

Can you see dolphins cut back underwater right at the end? There was some setting wrong on the camera, and we didn't find it later after going thru the pix and vid. My guess now is that it was the white balance, thrown off by the color of the haze. It made the video dark and low contrast, but maybe on the uTube theater mode there's a quick glimpse of one shadow moving back toward the pelicans. On the original camera video it's pretty easy to see them all, but I guess uTube's processing reduced the contrast? You can right-click or Ctrl-click on this Edhat version to access theater mode or full screen with slow motion, or here's the link: https://youtu.be/MfPwd8xKHiU It was amazing how fast they were swimming and how instantly they did 180 snap turns!

I'm so glad I waited thru the short video - to the part where the dolphins rise together in formation & then the birds and dolphins converge on the fish together. Wow!! It's spectacular that you caught that from the air. Never saw anything like it! Thank You!!
