Dog of the Week: Maximus

Source: Spark Rescue

Max is an adorable 7 month old male terrier mix. Max was no longer wanted by his family as they were too busy to give him the attention he so desperately needed and deserved. Max has been in rescue for two weeks and what an amazing dog he is! Max enjoys a walk on leash or run next to his foster mom. Max loves to play with other dogs and hasn’t met a person he doesn’t like! Max would thrive in a home with an active family that would include him in their daily activities.

  1. As so many do, this place has lost perspective on the mission they choose. At $550 there is an immense number of families that cannot afford to ‘adopt’ this pet. They appear to be setting high prices on desireable animals, perhaps to subsidize others but really, the group should survive on donations or move on.

  2. If a family cannot afford the adoption fee then they definitely cannot afford veterinarian bills. What happens when Fido eats something it shouldn’t and needs its stomach pumped and they can’t afford the bill? Dog ends up on the street or back in the shelter.

  3. That is simply not true and a real easy way to get lots of people out of the way to adopt these pets., Our last pup just passed away this past Sept, she was 16 years old, her partner in life, passed away on Christmas eve, he was 17 years old, we also had bred them, had 6 puppies, gave away 4 and kept 2, we had them for there entire lives as well until they passed with cancer at 11 years old. We had this entire family from when there parents were 12 weeks old, 17 1/2 years all together and these pups were never without anything they needed. We have always taken them to White’s or LaCumbre Animal Hospital when needed, we even kept all there teeth cleaned!! They ate all natural foods,, they were very healthy, loved and dearly missed. It’s just simply not true that if someone does not want to pay these prices to adopt a rescue that they would not be able to “afford” it. We can most certainly afford it, but it’s not right to charge this, and won’t be paying these prices.
