Re: People v. Caihong Lei, Santa Barbara Superior Court Case No. 25CR06278
Santa Barbara County District Attorney John T. Savrnoch announced today that charges have been filed against 34-year-old Caihong Lei in Santa Barbara County Superior Court in connection with a suspected fraudulent scheme targeting an elderly victim.
Ms. Lei is charged with multiple felonies, including conspiracy to commit theft from an elder, attempted theft from an elder, and attempted theft by false pretenses.

She is also charged with several misdemeanor crimes, including elder abuse, petty theft, and prowling.
Ms. Lei appeared in Department 8 of the Figueroa Division of the Santa Barbara Superior Court for arraignment.
The arraignment was continued to Friday, August 8, 2025 in Department 8. She is currently being held at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $500,000 bail.
