More than likely there are cameras at Stearns Wharf that saw them and then during the investigation, they were known to local LE. Maybe some gave info on others to get a lesser sentence, doesn't matter, glad they were identified and arrested. I hope that others learn a lesson from this.

Jauregui is also charged with having been previously convicted of a violent felony, or “strike” offense. Jesus already a strike at that age! Now this. Sad these young men threw their life away for something probably over nothing. Glad they are being held accountable for their actions but just a sad state of affairs:/ rip Robert Gutierrez.

At 20, in or adjacent to a gang? Doesn't seem like a big deal. We know what kids are exposed to, let alone criminally. Yes, it is a tragic loss of life, literally and figuratively, all the way around.

DOULIE - Not sure he was at the scene. Check out the Jan 20 article. It says "Four individuals were arrested and will be booked at Santa Barbara County Jail in connection with this murder." Later it says, the 16 year old "was also arrested" and that was only for a gun possession charge, with no charges connected to the homicide. Also, this article only refers to "[a]ll four defendants." He very likely could have been just on the street at the time of the SWAT action. I do agree though, if he was involved and at the scene, he should be charged as an adult.

As for how he came into possession, it was clearly illegally as he was only 16 years old.

SAC - We'll see how much "action" the new DA will take relative to the juvenile. If present at the scene I'd like to see the 16 year old charged as an adult whether or not he has a criminal history. Send a message to the young wanna-be gang boys in our county.

As far as I can tell from the previous article he’s in juvie on forearms possession.

I’m glad he will have the opportunity to realize that he’s lucky he isn’t a couple years older. Poor kids getting roped into this shit
