On 07/27/2018, at about 11:00 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 600 block of Roskilde Road in the City of Solvang for a report of a subject making threats with a handgun. The subject, later identified as 57-year old Timothy Wayne Johnson from Solvang, was pointing the handgun at his victim’s head while making threats.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that Johnson had already fled the scene in his vehicle. Johnson was reported to be in possession of an AK-47 rifle and other firearms. It was also reported to law enforcement that Johnson was intoxicated and had posted a suicidal statement on a social media account stating, “I’ll see you in the afterlife”.
Deputies searched the area with the assistance of a Santa Barbara County Sheriff/Fire Air Support Unit helicopter and officers from the California Highway Patrol. Johnson’s vehicle was eventually located at the Mobil gas station on Hwy 246 in Buellton. Because of the threats made by Johnson and the fact that he was known to have a firearm in his possession, Johnson was arrested at gunpoint. Johnson initially refused to comply with the deputies’ verbal commands, but the deputies were able to deescalate the situation and safely take Johnson into custody without further incident.
Deputies found two loaded firearms in Johnson’s car, a .22 caliber rifle and the AK-47 rifle. After obtaining a search warrant for Johnson’s residence, deputies found two additional handguns (one matching the described provided by the victim) a large cache of ammunition, and a high capacity AK-47 ammo drum.
Johnson was later booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for making Criminal Threats, Assault with Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Silencer, Possession of an Assault Weapon in California, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public. Johnson’s bail is set at $50,000.

And considering the level of threat this moron posed to the community, look at that ridiculously low bail amount. Just another example of how we coddle gun nuts.
Another nut, threatening people, suicidal AND with a lot of guns that could kill a lot of people. Guys, look around at the violence and the number of innocents SLAUGHTERED by these same high capacity semi-automatic weapons and just try to justify logically to the family of one of the slaughtered WHY YOU NEED AN ASSAULT WEAPON!! It just doesn’t make any sense.
I don’t know how it would be possible, but all AK-47s, machine guns and like should be taken out of the hands of civilians. Too many are nut cases. They’re no good for hunting deer or elk and they’d blow a bird to pieces too small to cook. They’re only good for one thing: shooting a lot of people quickly. Bears and cougars don’t run in packs.

Sigh. Someone posts the same lame comments everytime the PD grab some dip$hit’s weapons and posts a pic of black guns. Reminder folks: “machine guns”, otherwise known as automatic weapons are illegal nationwide. “AK-47” weapons have to be registered in the state of California. That’s why the PD knew he had one before they approached him. Look, the guy is jerk. But please learn a very little about the law before you jump to a (unconstitutional) conclusion.
None of the weapons shown is an automatic. They are all semi-automatic. Only one is a AK-47.
this statement could be made for a mercedes, or a mansion. why does anyone person NEED a $100,000 car that does 200mph, or a house with 14 bedrooms and 2 pools.
its because they can, that is the purpose. No one needs much of what we buy actually, do you need your iPhone, no actually you dont. So why in modern civilized society do you need it? because you want it.
the same is said for anything and everything else, guns included. Just because you dont understand why you would want one. doesnt mean someone else doesnt justify it for other reason. lets realize in “modern civilized society” that we all dont have to agree all the time.
