Monday, August 30 is the deadline to register to vote in California. Registering by this deadline ensures that voters receive the voter material they will need. Voting in California has never been easier and registering to vote is the first step. All California residents are eligible to vote as long as they are a United States citizen and at least 18 on or before Election Day, September 14.

There a several ways to register to vote:

  • Register online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov

  • Paper applications can be found at most U.S. Post Offices, or the Department of Motor Vehicles.

  • To assist voters in meeting the registration deadline, County Elections Offices listed below will be open Saturday, August 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and during regular business hours.

What if a voter misses the August 30 deadline?

Eligible citizens may use the conditional voter registration process through Election Day, available only at the County Registrar of Voters offices or a polling place to register and vote. Ballots cast conditionally will be processed once the Registrar of Voters Office has completed the voter registration verification process.

“I highly recommend that voters register by the August 30 deadline,” said Joe Holland, Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters. “It ensures that the voter has the opportunity to receive, review and mark their ballot safely and securely at home. If a voter is unsure about their voter registration status or needs to change registration information like address, visit the website at SBCVote.com."

The stakes are extremely high in this election. Newsom has made tremendous progress on many fronts, and it is imperative that we keep him in office. Newsom will ensure that your water, gas and electric bills continue to increase. Newsom will make you pay more to register your car and fill your tank. Newsom will close your business, your schools, and make you wear a mask. New some will implement policies that will drive up the cost of housing, ether you rent or own. Newsom will ensure that you continue to see more and more drug addicts camping in your community. Newsom will also make sure that your electrical service is interrupted more often. Newsom will make sure traffic congestion continues to increase. Finally, Newsom will fight to stop changes in forest management practices in order to ensure that we continue to experience larger and more destructive fires in the years ahead. There are many more examples, but I’ll leave it at that. Unless you want to put a stop to all this great work, be sure to vote to keep Newsom in office.

If you're behind right now, its because of you and your choices. Business is really, really good in almost every sector, in almost every place. Anyone who wants to is making money. The economy is booming. Incomes are increasing. Jobs are plentiful. So what's your excuse Chip? Why are you so sad and angry? Is it all the Governors fault? Oh no, it's Biden. Or is it Pelosi? Or maybe, just maybe, its you? After all, everything is available to you that is available to everyone else. So what is holding you back from the life you want Chip? Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and make your own way! The goings good, you better get going!

As usual, nothing Chip says is true or honest. And how dim would someone have to be to think that replacing Newsom with Larry Elder or some other completely unqualified bozo would be an improvement, especially when he and the Dem legislature would be completely at odds?

SBO, business is good and the money is flowing indeed, but only for some. Those with wealth are thriving. However, talking about how people ought to work harder and bootstrap their way up while sipping on a glass of fine wine at the French Laundry is a bit distasteful. Unfortunately, a growing contingent of Californians simply can’t afford the rapidly rising costs in our state. The rich get richer, but they do so at everyone else’s expense. Every year, more and more people are moving to states that are managed differently so as to provide a higher standard of living for the working class. For the first time in history, California is actually losing population for this reason. The number one destination for those who are leaving is Texas of all places. The reason is simple, everything is more affordable. Housing, fuel, utilities, vehicle registration, you name it. For a young couple looking to start a family on blue collar jobs, remaining in california has become untenable. However, in a state like Texas there is a viable path to home ownership and a higher standard of living.

Texas has one of the highest property tax rates in the nation, 1.69%. Sales tax in many places is over 8%. There is no state income tax, but the working class in California does not pay much. That Texas is a workers paradise.

The one thing that is painfully obvious about your POV(s) is that you're always the victim, its always someone else's fault and of course your favorite, "the sky if falling!" (always based on hearsay). Like they say down in West TX> "Oh Sweetie, you poor thing... Bless your heart." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Face it Chip. Its you. Not a politician, not a policy. You. How do I know? Because millions of other are doing just fine when according to you, you're not. When tens of thousands of your fellow Santa Barbarians are doing just fine, but according to you, you're not... So instead of blaming the Boogie Man, maybe realize its you. You're the reason your life apparently sucks. So if you think you will be a better person and have a better life in TX, then move. No one will miss you here as there are hundreds of thousands of other people willing to work hard and sacrifice to achieve the life they want, where they want it... In reality you're just taking up space and bringing the common denominator down as a result. So giddy up and go find your fabled land of freedom. Nothing is more American than moving to a new place and starting over... Maybe you can even buy a Doulie and blow coal one your 100mi highway commute to your job at the _______ factory.

The most recent Yes/No vote for the recall is showing "Yes" leading by a slender margin. Larry Elder is far ahead of everyone else on the ballot to replace governor Newsom. Elder seems to have a lot of support across the voting spectrum except in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, and Berkeley where the (D) vote is firmly entrenched. Interesting that Gov. Newsom publicly is calling this a "Republican" recall (see ad with Liz Warren), but scads and scads (over 50%) of (D) voters are fed up with the crime, and especially letting out the tens of thousands thugs, murderers, and worse out of prison/jails.

Consider a K-12 classroom of 25 students. One teacher union member loves Newsom. 50 parents hate both Newsom, and the teachers unions. Do the math, if you want to make bets on the Newsom Recall outcome.

CLIP of (4/30/21) article: With little notice, California on Saturday is increasing early release credits for 76,000 inmates, including violent and repeat felons, as it further trims the population of what once was the nation’s largest state correctional system. More than 63,000 inmates convicted of violent crimes... That includes nearly 20,000 inmates who are serving life sentences with the possibility of parole. HERE'S a few more lovely things Newsom has done: https://recallgavin2020.com/reasons/
