A female paraglider found herself precariously trapped on a brush-covered cliff overhang at Rincon Point after crashing on Wednesday, prompting a dramatic rescue effort by first responders.
The Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District disclosed that the distress call for a fallen paraglider at the Rincon Bluffs was received around 3:50 p.m.
With the aid of a bystander in the vicinity, first responders were directed to the location where the paraglider had become stranded.
Utilizing ropes to prevent the paraglider from descending further, emergency personnel ensured her safety, given that she had sustained a broken leg and ankle in the crash.
Subsequently, a Santa Barbara County Fire Department helicopter executed a successful extraction, lifting the injured paraglider from the cliffs to safety.
The injured woman was promptly transported by ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for urgent medical attention, as confirmed by the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District.
