Cox Communications customers are now seeing their services coming back up in the aftermath of storm-related outages. This week, the severe storms and mudslides that hit Santa Barbara County impacted video, internet, phone and home security services to some Cox Communications residential and business customers.

While many customers have seen services come back online, Cox teams continue working around the clock to restore service to all of its customers.

The majority of Cox customers in the county were not impacted and continued to have service, however, customers in some of the hardest hit neighborhoods have been experiencing service outages due to network damage caused by the storms and mudslides.

The company has been working with the County of Santa Barbara and local emergency agencies as it makes necessary repairs for complete service restoration.

Service outage updates will continue to be provided at www.cox-california.com and Twitter (@coxcalifornia). Impacted customers who need additional assistance can call 800-234-3993.

The severe storms and mudslides that hit Santa Barbara County have impacted video, internet, phone and home security services to some Cox Communications residential and business customers.

While the majority of our customers are not impacted and continue to have service, some customers are experiencing service outages. In some instances, customers may have power in their home, but are still unable to access their Cox services due to network damage from the storm.

Our number one priority is the safety of our customers, employees and community, and we are working to restore service as soon as possible.

With road closures, evacuations and mudslides, we have had limited access to impacted areas to make necessary repairs and restore service to impacted customers. However, we are working with the County of Santa Barbara and local emergency agencies and are on standby to immediately begin service restoration once we have access to impacted areas and the ability to make repairs. We will work around the clock to restore service to customers as quickly as possible.

We are committed to helping our customers and our community recover from these devastating storms, and we will provide outage updates to customers via email and Twitter (@coxcalifornia). Impacted customers who need additional assistance can call 800-234-3993.

During 4 days of our Cox connections down (TV, phone, internet) we stayed tuned into K-LITE FM and they did a great job of dispensing information. It was a huge, pleasant surprise when Cox came on Friday. Word was they couldn't get workers to their fiber-optic problem, but as soon as they did they'd be working 24/7 on it. Well, sounded like it would take a very long time. Then, wow, we had everything back.

I find it pretty ridiculous, and ironic that the various agencies keep telling people to check their websites for pertinent information... like instructions for the 'boil water' advisories can be found on the Montecito Water website, or the County Public Health site. So... the folks with no power, no internet access, no cell service are supposed to do that how?

Carpinteria residents like myself who rely on Cox Cable and AT&T mobile have to contend with no reliable internet. Strangely, a few miles south of SB/Ventura border, there is fast internet in La Conchita and Mussel Shoals. I was at the little hotel there having lunch today and was pleasantly surprised to find fast WIFI.

Interesting that they refer to the outage which is city wide for all Cox customers in Carpinteria and Summerland and I hear a lot of Monticeto as some customers are without service. From what we are hearing here in Carpinteria from sources within Cox Communications in Santa Barbara they have not even been able to enter the problem POP location in Montecito to eases the repairs needed let alone start the repairs. Cox will not tell customers this as they are concerned more with the possible loss of long term revenue then they are with the immediate needs of their customers in a crisis area. Business in Carp can not access credit card services, people that rely on the Internet for work are at a stand still and the whole community has been without Cable TV for news or updates on the current situation. WTG Cox!

Rockwellbad, perhaps you don’t live in the area that is most impacted, because if you did you would surely understand why Cox on this occasion are powerless to do anything. Poles are down, underground infrastructure is flooded with thick mud and access is being denied to all but emergency services. Regardless of ones opinion of Cox, surely this cannot be their fault. On this occasion it seems your response was decidedly more sarcastic than the announcement by Cox, which seemed fairly straight forward and informative, at least from my perspective.

We exceeded our monthly data allocation the other day with Verizon Wireless. They allowed us to upgrade to an unlimited data plan (at the higher monthly fee) but waived the incurred overage charges.

Just called AT&T and they are not offering free overages on data as they were during the Thomas Fire, even though the situation is more desperate for many than it was then. Very poor show and lack of understanding, in my opinion. If anyone feels similarly, please call them.

Gordon576 - I'd bet if you call your cell provider and explain the sitch, there could be some help there as they should be able to ascertain where you are. If not, boo hiss on them.

This is all sarcasm. Good job Cox. Keep up with the community outreach and public relations. Would not expect any more from the one and only cable servicer. Obviously there are other limited options (satellite / phone) but Cox may now be handed a run for the money, given that their infrastructure is impacted. Hence their news post. Keep it up COX. You've won me over.

Their monopoly won't be significantly impacted by this. Once they have access to the area, they will do some moderate repairs and get right back to fleecing their cornered customers.

I am no fan of Cox but if you think this will give them a "run for their money" you are misinformed. They have a franchise with the city. Their infrastructure is not that impacted, they will fix the wires and such and it will be business as usual.
