County Planning Commission To Hear Update on Cannabis Land Use Ordinance and Licensing Program

Following an update to the Montecito Planning Commission yesterday, County Planning and Development staff will give an update on progress of the Cannabis Land Use and Licensing Program to the County Planning Commission in Santa Maria on September 13. The public is encouraged to participate in person or by remote testimony that will be available in Santa Barbara. The agenda will be available one week prior on September 6.

The Commission may change the order of items listed on its agenda. Estimated discussion times for each project are shown on the Commissions’ agenda. At 9 a.m. on the hearing day during the Agenda Status Report, the Commission may change the order of items listed on the agenda for that hearing.

The Board of Supervisors has directed staff to develop comprehensive cannabis regulations for its consideration to permit or prohibit activities associated with the Medicinal and Adult Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MAUCRSA).  Since April 11, 2017, the public has been invited to participate in the process through several public Ad Hoc Committee meetings, Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings, and through the public process to develop the Environmental Impact Report that is underway.
