Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a report of smoke on the bluffs of Hope Ranch on Thursday.
At 11:09 a.m., crews responded to the 4200 block of Marina Drive and witnessed smoke emitting from the bluffs.
A drone was used to fly over the area and it was determined there were no threats or hazards detected, according to the County Fire Department.

Referred to as a “geological event,” the Fire Department stated this area commonly emits smoke and potent smells.
The unofficial name known to edhat readers is the “Hope Ranch Volcano” as the bluffs between More Mesa and Hendry’s Beach have been known to smoke.
