A mountain biker was safely rescued and airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Thursday morning after experiencing a medical emergency on a trail in the Los Padres National Forest.
Santa Barbara County Fire crews, along with Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue, responded to the emergency near Buckhorn Trail and Santa Rosa Trail at approximately 7:15 a.m.
The patient was located and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by the County Fire Air Support Unit, with the helicopter landing at the hospital around 8:45 a.m.
“Excellent teamwork with Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue to quickly reach and assist the patient,” the Santa Barbara County Fire Department stated. “Thank you to all personnel involved!”
The nature of the medical emergency has not been disclosed. The location is near several campgrounds in the area.

Currently, a Santa Barbara County Fire helicopter is landing at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. This is around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 11.
It’s don’t have confirmation of what emergency this helicopter responded to, but following the flight path it is most likely linked to an emergency rescue around 7:15 a.m. in the Los Padres National Forest.
According to PulsePoint, County Fire, Search and Rescue, and Helicopter 308 responded to 1 Buckhorn Road for an undisclosed rescue. This is located near several campgrounds in the area.
