County Fire Chief Addresses Fire Safety for Residents

Source: City of Goleta

We are lucky to live in such a beautiful place, but like most California cities, Goleta is susceptible to fires. We want to make sure our community members understand the risks and are prepared. Please take time out to watch this important video message tailored specifically to Goleta residents from Santa Barbara County Fire Chief Mark Hartwig.

  1. The pretend outrage that the “homeless” don’t behave as the general population is annoying. We know that people who are homeless often suffer from mental health issues and substance abuse problems. If they were like “you” they wouldn’t be there in the first place. Stop this petty and harmful slander. Stop ignoring the reality and help us build a solution other than “Just Say No”!

  2. I don’t think it’s the “homeless”… or urban campers as we call them. If you have no shelter, but make one in the bushes – why, would you set fire to it? On a warm or hot day? Why? I keep hearing about ‘warming fires’… really?! When it 78-80 degrees? Where was the search for the young woman who was starting fires at the off ramps down town, and then along the railroad tracks heading north last year??

  3. well that is all well & good. i am sure the public will comply because they have too much to lose.
now who is going to insist on responsible behavior from the homeless ? they have little to lose and probably get a big laugh out of it all.
i forget – why are we paying taxes ???
