Coroner Identifies Man Killed on Train Tracks

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner has released the identity of the man who was killed by a train near the Amtrak Station in downtown Santa Barbara last week.

The Sheriff’s Office stated Byron Keith, 56 of Santa Barbara, was found deceased near the train tracks in the 200 block of W. Montecito Street on October 14.

The exact cause of death will be released pending toxicology results, which could take several weeks.

The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner was headed south to Los Angeles at the time of the incident.
