Starting Monday, November 4th, construction will begin for the Cliff Drive and Alan Road Multiuse Path and Crosswalk Safety Improvements Project, with completion expected by Friday, November 22nd. This project will bring several enhancements to the area around Cliff Drive and Alan Road, including:
- Extending the current multiuse path from the Cliff/Las Positas Roundabout to the parking lot at Arroyo Burro Beach County Park.
- Upgrading the existing rectangular rapid flashing beacon crossing at Cliff and Alan Roads to provide increased reliability.
- Reconstructing the access ramp at the northwest corner of Cliff Drive and Alan Road to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Please be aware this construction project may cause some traffic delays in the area. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to improve our community’s infrastructure.
Project questions? Please email the City’s Supervising Traffic Engineer, Behdad Gharagozli at BGharagozli@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.
Spend, spend, spend! Tax, tax, tax. Is this stuff essential?
Public roads that are safe and in good condition are indeed essential.
If you want civilization, you pay taxes. If you’re clueless, you complain.
So you OK anything and everything they do to roads???
Yes. The roads are maintained by people who know what they’re doing.
You seem to be unfamiliar with that concept, among many others.
RUBY – I’ve asked before an you’ve never responded, at least not coherently.
What DO you support your taxes going to? You’ve said now multiple times you think highway maintenance and now crosswalks and other safety measures are a waste. So what, exactly, do you want your taxes going toward?
Sac – if you look around there is already a crosswalk and a path at cliff and Alan. I want my tax dollars to go only for essential services – what I see is constant revamping of existing improvements. Look no further than the rest stops at Gaviota. All work should be bid out by private contractors. We’re spending money we don’t have – just raised the sales tax and I believe occupancy tax, and now we’re spending that willy nilly.
You didn’t notice that the work is being done by private contractors?
If all work is done privately, fine. But an independent authority needs to decide what is done.
Yes! It’s called CalTrans.
Happy to see you’re figuring things out.
Caltrans is the government – not able to do anything efficiently or correctly. Ala USPS, Amtrak, NASA
Oh, so you haven’t figured anything out. That’s OK, there are enough smart people around to make up for you.
Has it occurred to you to check into what’s going on at NASA, for example? It’s the private contractors like Boeing that are causing the cost overruns and failed programs.
