Saturday, April 30, 2022, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on the sidewalk near the southwest corner of Cliff Drive and Meigs Rd. (near Corner Tap at 1905 Cliff Drive). This meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation.

WHY THESE IMPROVEMENTS:

Cliff Drive is one of City Council’s Vision Zero Priority Corridors targeted to improve safety. In December of 2021, Council directed City Staff to apply for the next Active Transportation Program grant cycle, Cycle 6. The proposed project will bring community-requested safety enhancements to the Cliff Drive corridor, including enhanced pedestrian crosswalks with pedestrian activated flashers, three new traffic signals, and a traffic separated multi-use path. The City shared an update on the project design and planning process at public meetings in January 2022. Since those meetings, design options have been refined for the commercial section of Cliff Drive, between Oliver Road and Salida Del Sol.

WHY NOW?

California will be asking for grant submittals for the Active Transportation Grant Program in spring 2022. Although not a guarantee, we believe that the draft/concept project proposals shared will have a good chance of being funded through these grants. The online and in person meetings will cover the design options for the commercial section of Cliff Drive and feedback from the community is requested.

WHAT’S NEXT?

With feedback from the community, City Staff will continue working on the grant application with the preferred option. On May 17, 2022 City Council will consider increasing City grant matching contributions that may increase the chances for these improvements to be grant funded by the State.
