Community Wedding Reception at Samarkand

The Samarkand celebrated love and weddings during a community-wide wedding reception at the faith-based senior living community. The Library Lounge featured wedding photos of Samarkand couples, some married for as long as 72 years – congratulations, Al and Arlene Noreen! Wedding cake and punch were served during the reception and resident couples enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage ride around campus by Ramon Becerra, a renowned expert horseman and trainer from Santa Ynez Valley. Pictured from left: Samarkand residents Larry and Valerie Cardon DuBois will celebrate four years in October and Elsie and Joe Steele will celebrate 57 years in July.

Jul 04, 2017 08:08 AMRamon Becerra who drove the carriage is the best horse trainer I've ever known. About 30 years or so ago John and Bo Derek had Ramon move to their ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley to train Bo's Andalusians. Ramon is absolutely amazing, he's a gentle trainer who can get a horse to do anything because he creates a great bond of trust with them.
