On April 12, 2021 around 1140pm, Officers responded to the area of 400 S. Salinas Street for a battery in progress. Multiple concerned citizens called police dispatchers reporting a fight in progress with someone screaming for help.

Officers arrived on scene minutes after the 911 calls and discovered a female victim severely beaten and laying on the sidewalk. Officers called paramedics to treat the victim for her injuries.

During the investigation, Officers learned the attack was the result of a family dispute.  It is believed at this point the suspect and the victim are related. The attack was captured on surrounding security cameras and shows the victim was stuck numerous times, and lost consciousness before several citizens intervened to prevent further harm to the victim.

The suspect was identified as Crystal Alaina Ramos (Age 19), a Santa Barbra resident. Ramos was detained on scene and arrested after trying to walk away from Officers.

Ramos was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for the following charges:

Assault with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury – 245(a)(4) PC Felony, and Battery Causing Great Bodily Injury – 243(d) PC Felony. Ramos is being held on $50,000 bail.

The victim is currently being treated at Cottage Hospital for her injuries.
