Lompoc has added a new dessert spot. 

Churros 805 has opened its second location in Lompoc. Located at 425 North H Street, the shop celebrated its opening on November 1, 2025.

The shop is open on all days of the week. 

Announcing its grand opening, the store said in a social media post that it would distribute churros for three hours on its inaugural day at the new location.

Churros 805 shared videos on Instagram, showing customers enjoying traditional churros, along with churro sundaes. The shop also shared some behind-the-scenes shots of the staff preparing the dessert in the kitchen. 

Churros 805 opened its first store on North Railroad Avenue in Santa Maria, which is open Thursdays through Sundays. 

The shop is also open for catering orders, it said on Instagram. 

Timeless Appeal of Churros

Churros are a flour-based pastry that is deep-fried in thick, ridged strips and rolled into cinnamon sugar. It is served crispy and hot with a serving of thick, hot chocolate as a dipping sauce.  

Churros are known to have originated in Spain and eventually traveled to other countries through Spanish colonies. It gained popularity in Latin America, where the recipe was adapted to suit local tastes and cuisines. 

In Mexico, churros are typically filled with sweet fillings, such as caramel, chocolate, or fruit preserves. 

The dessert is equally popular in the U.S., and it is often served with a variety of dips or fillings.  

Churros are a staple menu option in food trucks and cafes, according to a report by Consegic Business Intelligence

The increasing demand for churros in the U.S. can be attributed to the rising popularity of Hispanic cuisine and the growth of fast-food chains offering churros as desserts, the report stated. 

There is a rising demand for unique flavors, such as fruit fillings or innovative combinations, which drives the popularity of the dessert.  

There is also demand for frozen and pre-packaged churros for at-home use in the U.S., which further boosts the demand for the sweet, the report added.

However, while churros are delicious, there are health concerns over their nutritional value. Churros are high in calories and saturated fat, as the pastry is deep-fried, coated with sugar, or served with other sweet fillings. 

Due to the nature of its preparation and ingredients, the dessert provides limited nutrients. As a result, the dessert loses its appeal among health-conscious consumers.
