The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is warning motorists to slow down after issuing a speeding ticket to a driver exceeding 100 mph in Santa Barbara last week.
Last Thursday, CHP pulled over a white SUV traveling northbound on Highway 101, just north of State Street, for driving 109 mph in a 65 mph zone.
“At that speed, the driver’s reaction time is drastically reduced, and the chance of a serious or fatal crash skyrockets. Please slow down. Follow the speed limit. Arrive alive. Your safety—and the safety of everyone around you—depends on it,” CHP states.

The driver was cited for driving over 100 mph on a California freeway, which could lead to a significant fine and 30 day license suspension.
The driver was also cited for driving without a valid license. This offense is charged either as a misdemeanor carrying up to six months in jail and/or $1,000 or as a non-criminal infraction carrying up to $250.

This is outrageous. No license and 100+… this guy should spend the full 6 months in jail, have his vehicle confiscated and auctioned off to pay for CHP salaries, and be ineligible to drive for many years.
Wait… what?!? At least they should’ve confiscated the car and had it towed. They cited and released? EDHAT STAFF – the people want to know!
If the person wasn’t caucasian or looked poor they would have been arrested for reckless driving.
