The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has been taking to social media to posting photos of citations in an effort to warn drivers about speeding.
During the Thanksgiving weekend, CHP posted another photo stating a driver was stopped for traveling 103 mph on Highway 101 southbound at Padaro Lane in Carpinteria.
CHP stated inside the car were three minors, including a 6-year-old in the backseat.
The driver was cited an infraction of 22348(b) VC which makes it illegal to drive over 100 mph on a freeway. Penalties include significant fines up to $1,000, points on their driving record, and a mandatory court appearance. A first offense can result in a 30-day license suspension, with penalties escalating for repeat offenses.
“Speeding isn’t just a citation it’s risking the lives of the people who trust you to get them home safely. Please slow down!” CHP stated.
Last month edhat reported that CHP officers pulled over the drivers of a BMW and Kia for racing in the same area reaching speeds of 121 mph. In October, CHP cited two drivers in separate incidents for both traveling 109 mph on Highway 101.

CHP needs to get the Rt 101 sign off the same pole as the speed limit sign. Drivers are clearly getting confused between the route number and the speed limit.
Oh, dang it! You got me. You jested and after looking at the post again I get it! And it was a good one 🙂
Surely you jest? Who pays attention to the speed limit? Very few to be sure. So, jesting you must be.
I thought over 85 mph ment automatic jail?
Good to have enforcement out there to respond to these gatherings/incidents. Looks like the CHP did a very professional job and will continue this effort as needed. Thanks
