The California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Buellton Area investigators are working to determine the cause of a single-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday near Buellton, Calif. and claimed the life of the driver.
On August 29, 2025, at 5:47 p.m., CHP San Luis Obispo Communication Center received a call of a single vehicle crash on Santa Rosa Road. Buellton CHP officers, Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office Deputies, and Santa Barbara Fire Department personnel responded.
Preliminary investigation by the responding officers determined that a 2008 Nissan Quest, traveling westbound, left the south road edge, and crashed into a tree, east of mile post marker 10. The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan sustained fatal injuries.
Inquiries of the identity of the driver are referred to the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office, to ensure all proper notifications have been made.
