Chase the Chill, the Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Goleta’s Holiday Project, is back for its third year.
Congregants have collected donations of hundreds of hand-knit and crocheted hats and scarves and purchased gloves and socks to distribute to people in need of warm clothing.
Beginning Saturday, December 13, and through the following week the church distributes the items via Showers of Blessing, the New Beginnings Safe Parking Program, CityNet and several food distribution sites.
The group also enjoys making “drops” in several public parks, and other locations in Goleta and Isla Vista for people to take, with a note saying “Take me if you need me or like me. Happy Holidays.”

This annual project is part of the church’s Social Justice Ministry that supports their mission to actively live their values of diversity, compassion and justice to humanity and the earth.
