While National Dog Day was on Monday, August 26, in Santa Barbara you can celebrate all year long with the city’s array of stunning parks, scenic trails, and welcoming beaches.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department has curated a list of prime locations to ensure every pup can enjoy an adventure-packed day.

National Dog Day, celebrated annually on August 26, is an event dedicated to recognizing the importance of dogs and their role in providing companionship, security, and emotional support to their human counterparts. Santa Barbara is well known for its pet-friendly atmosphere and extensive natural spaces, offers the perfect setting for this celebration.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to bond with their pets in some of Santa Barbara’s most beautiful outdoor spaces. Whether you and your pooch prefer sandy beaches, lush green parks, or meandering trails with breathtaking views, the city promises an ideal spot for every kind of canine explorer.

This initiative not only emphasizes the valued presence of dogs in the Santa Barbara community but also highlights the city’s commitment to promoting animal welfare and outdoor activities. Dog owners are reminded to ensure their pets are well-behaved and to adhere to any rules specific to each location regarding leash requirements and permitted areas.

*Off-leash dogs must be under sight and voice control. Owners must have a leash at all times and leash dogs when necessary. S.B.M.C. 6.08.020

  1. If your dog isn’t good at crowded dog parks, check out the new app that is catching on all over called, Sniffspot. Especially good when traveling with your dog as you pop in your location and it shows you private dog yards that rent by the hour. There is a great one here in lower Gaviota area.
