Flying past the Cave Fire burn area we saw some scary scenes where the fire came really close to homes. These aerial pix show the excellent work firefighters did to save homes and stop the fire from raging down into town. Even with window reflections it's clear how close it came to Painted Cave, and how much of the watershed was scorched. I've pumped the color some to compensate for the glare and distinguish charred brush from the flush of green from our subsequent rains.

Thank you, John. We have had firefighters and Forest Service employees in our family. They really are heroes.

Great photos. Have we heard how this fire started yet?

The fire was close to us. It's amazing to see these photos and be reminded just how close. They show how massive the terrain was! Watching the flames jump from one area to another - not in just a steady march, but hopscotching. The efforts of the firefighters moving along as needed, truly heroic! Thanks for this reminder John. And the added blessing of seeing the new after-rain green carpets being created. Beautiful!

Did you read why he did that? I think it's very helpful. Thanks, John! Great photos as usual.

Great photos. Thank you firefighters! The fire came right up to homes on the east side of San Antonio Creek Rd. We are so thankful it wasn’t another Paint Fire.
