Way Back When: 16 Candles and a Packard

What 16-year-old wouldn’t want a cool set of wheels — in her favorite color (peacock blue) — for her birthday? Of course, this was no ordinary teen celebrating her birthday. She was “Flying A” starlet Mary Miles Minter, and was “probably the happiest girl in the world,” according to the local paper. (No kidding!) The birthday girl’s mother gifted her with a blue Packard.
